Varèse Sarabande, het soundtrack label bij uitstek. Grootste concurrent Sony mag zich dan in omzetcijfers de grootste noemen (daar zit Titanic ook voor veel tussen), in aantal originele score releases is het toch Varèse Sarabande die de kroon spant. Robert Townson is sinds dauw en dag executive producer bij het label. Door deze lange verbintenis kan je hem zowat bestempelen als soort van mecenas van de filmmuziek. In Session is een beetje zijn favoriete collectie bijeen, allemaal geput uit de opnames van het Varèse Sarabande label. In Session is een compilatie die niet de populairste, beste en meest marketingdoeltreffende wil zijn, de missie is "just good music", en dat maakt deze zo goed. In session, twee cd's vol, zowat de knapste muziek uit van 1941 tot 1986, je moet het gehoord hebben, dit is goed!
